Health Care and Education Supportive Training method

This 1-day accredited course will be held at our own ideal training location Woolton High School, or can be held at your location.

HCEST delivers CPD accredited training within Education, all trainers have a wealth of experience working within the care sector, following feedback from Teaching and support staff over 20 years delivering to primary and secondary schools, we have tailored the courses we believe that will ensure staff, and the organisation, feel confident and supported when dealing with any conflict situations they may encounter. (see references).

Following delivery of this course, feedback from staff who have attended training feel 100% confident and supported when dealing with incidents.

All HCEST trainers have worked in the Care sector, and have a wealth of experience in Education settings. (see references, we currently have over 60 trainers cascading courses to their own staff.

Overview

All HCEST trainings emphasis is based on theories of aggression, and de-escalation techniques, only when these have been exhausted, would we cover low level interventions.

This course is aimed at individuals who are supporting children, in nursery, primary or secondary school settings.

The aim of this course is to support a child who has become distressed, staff will be given a range of approaches, using verbal strategies initially, distraction techniques, and de-escalation of aggression skills.

Always as a last resort, staff will be shown a range of low-level physical Interventions, the situations covered will fall within the legislation section 93 of the Education Act.

Reasonable force can be used in the following circumstances.

  • Removing disruptive children from a classroom where they have refused to follow an instruction to do so.
  • Prevent a pupil behaving in a way that disrupts a school event or a school trip or visit.
  • Preventing a pupil from attacking a member of staff or another pupil, or to stop a fight in the playground
  • Restrain a pupil at risk of harming themselves through physical outbursts.

The course will also cover post incident analysis following incidents.

Reporting and recording of incidents

This will include staff / Child support following any Incidents.

HCEST have expert witnesses available should there be any support required 24/7.
